Matthew Lessner is an award-winning writer/director whose work has been screened at top festivals worldwide, including Sundance, SXSW, and Clermont-Ferrand. His first feature narrative, THE WOODS (2011), was hailed by Indiewire as "edgy and ambitious" The film made waves in Variety, Hollywood Reporter and The New York Times as the first feature selected by Sundance to use Kickstarter for production funding. His past work includes the absurdist DARLING DARLING, starring Michael Cera, which won Lessner the Tom Berman Most Promising Filmmaker Award at Ann Arbor Film Festival. His social satire, BY MODERN MEASURE, was dubbed "the best short of 2007" by Indiewire and screened at both SXSW and Sundance. Lessner's work has been featured in Wholphin DVD Magazine, The Journal of Short Film, Canal + and PBS. He has also directed acclaimed music videos for such bands as Dirty Projectors, Fool's Gold, and Explosions in the Sky.
