Bouli Lanners was born in front of an orchard in Belgium,1965.
Self-taught painter, he took various positions and jobs working on films before becoming popular with "The Snuls" on Canal+ Belgium.
Since then, he's made (his own?) films and played supporting roles in some of the biggest feature films in France and Belgium : Les convoyeurs attendent, Un long dimanche de fiançailles, Cowboy, Astérix aux jeux Olympiques, J’ai toujours rêvé d’être un gangster, Louise Michel, Où est la main de l’homme sans tête ...
In 1999, Bouli wrote and directed "Travellinckx", a road movie shot in black and white super 8mm film, that has toured festivals around the world.
Two years after this, Muno confirmed the singularity of the director and he was selected for « La Quinzaine des réalisateurs » at Cannes.
In 2005 he directed his first feature film "Ultranova", a tender and ironic portrait of a group of misfits. This offbeat look at the native Wallonia was awarded at the Berlinale film festival.
Bouli's second feature film "Eldorado", of which he directed and played the main character, has been awarded several times including the Quinzaine des réalisateurs at Cannes.
His third film "Les Geants" has also won two prizes at the 2011 Festival de Cannes.
Meanwhile, Bouli still loves walking in the woods, sailing on the canals and painting.
